Stories from the art room

Summer time learning packages from the art room!

Students get a break for the summer and so do you as a teacher but that does not mean they should just leave the classroom with nothing to do, nothing to jog their creativity and nothing to capture all the good ideas they will have over the summer whether it is from boredom or travel, or camp fun or whatever it is your students do in the summertime.
  1. First of all the project has to be stimulating.
  2. The  project should use materials the students have access to, so the project should be open ended.
  3. The students should be using their creativity muscles -  like athletics if a student does not practice being creative how can they maintain their creativity?
  4. Make it use technology and things they like so that they are wanting to do the activities... Go on and engage them.
  5. Give the students choice. If they are an avid artist then give them many ideas, if they are not give them the option to do what they feel they can.

Examples of summer learning packs -
- The 30 day drawing challenge

-  Artist bingo -  students should complete one row of activities

Summer learning packs can be really fun and are worth a try in any learning environment. Remember to make it accessible, engaging and fun! Have a lovely summer break everyone.

I have been in the art room for about 7 years + and there are too many things that we should share
