The Art of Abstraction - students must draw a bicycle and then using Mondrian's abstraction method they must paint an abstraction of the bicycle. These painting are acrylic on canvas and measure 1 x 1 meter.The Built Environment: What do humans build and how does this change our visual environment?Students were asked to make 2 isometric sketches of buildings. One sketch had to be a of a real building, and the other of an imaginary building. They needed to annotate and talk about the function of the building, the architect, the inventor and interesting aspects about the building.

Students had to work in teams in order to create a story they had seen on the news.

Grade 9 - Cellular art project
The original sketchbook designs are to explore the concept of cells and how they can be used to inspire art.

The sketches inspired by their science class start to emerge. They need to make several designs in order to explore their ideas. Through annotations, simply ' find 3 good thing and 3 bad things about each design', students should be able to make informed choices about the final design that will go up on the art wall.
