So how do we incorporate pop culture into the classroom? As art teachers we have options. you need to be creative: Your students are into the flipping water bottle challenge - create a colour mixing activity and have them flip colours together. If your students like spinner toys - make them? There are a million options and people have already written about it. Check out - Abby Schukei ´s blog https://www.theartofed.com/2017/06/02/3-ways-incorporate-pop-culture-art-room/. She has great ideas that would inspire any of us to get printing, laminating and creating new things on a continuous basis to keep our students engaged. One thing I do know is if you show interest in what the students are interested in at the time you can end up with great works of art that are owned by the student. Let them own their ideas, most of the time they are better than ours.
